The Intersurgical i-gel is a second-generation supraglottic airway device with a non-inflatable cuff made from a soft, gel-like thermoplastic elastomer that anatomically mirrors the perilaryngeal framework. Because no cuff inflation is needed, insertion is rapid and the risk of tissue compression and displacement is reduced. An integral gastric channel allows passage of a suction tube to empty the stomach, and an integrated bite block reduces occlusion risk. Widely used in anaesthesia and resuscitation, supplied sterile in a protective cradle that maintains its shape. Size 4 is intended for medium adults, typically 50-90 kg.
